Welcome to WSC12!

On behalf of the World Federation on Soft Computing (WFSC) I would like to welcome you all in the WSC12 cyberspace! The 12th online World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications provides a unique opportunity for soft computing researchers and practitioners to publish high quality papers and discuss research issues in detail without incurring a huge cost. The conference has established itself as a truly global event on the Internet. The quality of the conference has improved over the years. The WSC12 conference has covered new trends in soft computing to state of the art applications. The conference has also added new features such as virtual exhibition and online presentation.

On the first day of the conference, I wish all the authors, participants and organisers a very informative and useful interaction and virtual experience. Many thanks to the reviewers, sponsors and publishers of WSC12; and congratulations to the organisers! I believe your hard work will make the conference a true success.

Opening Note by General Chair and Program Chair

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our honor to welcome you to the WSC12 (12th Online World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications).

Continuing a tradition started over a decade ago by the World Federation of Soft Computing (http://www.softcomputing.org/) to bring together researchers interested in advancing state of the art in the field. Continuous technological improvements since then continue to make this online forum a viable gathering format for a world class conference.

The program committee received a total of 69 submissions from 30 countries, covering all the continents. This reflects the worldwide nature of this event. Each paper was then reviewed by three referees, culminating in the acceptance of 27 papers for publication. Authors of all accepted papers were then notified to prepare and submit their final manuscripts and conference presentations.

The organization of the WSC12 conference is completely voluntarily. The review process required an enormous effort from the members of the International Program Committee. We would like to thank all members of the International Program Committee for their contribution to success of this conference. We would like to express our sincere thanks to special session organizers, the plenary presenters, and to the publisher Springer for their hard work and support in organizing the conference. Finally, we would like to thank all the authors for their high quality contributions.? It is all of you who make this event possible!

We hope you will enjoy the conference and we are looking forward to meeting you virtually at WSC12. We encourage you to take an active part in the WSC12 paper discussions - your feedback is very important to other authors!

Note on the environment:
We would like take this opportunity to raise the awareness to the importance of reducing carbon emissions by participating virtual conferences such as the WSC12. Carbon emissions caused as a result of traveling are one of the major contributors to greenhouse effect and climate change. It is believed by many that telecommuting and virtual conferencing may lead to a significant reduction in carbon emissions even when increased. We hope that by taking part with this and future virtual conferencing we may help in cutting carbon emissions.
